Thomas Holt Award — National Champion

AMP Financial Planning

The Thomas Holt Award, known across the network as the National Champion, goes to the single highest-performing practice in AMP Financial Planning for the year. It's named after Thomas Holt, one of AMP's founders. AGS Financial Group won it five years running, from 2014 to 2018, a result that reflects sustained performance across the whole team over consecutive years.

Amicus is an exclusive recognition within the AMP Financial Planning network for sustained, long-term achievement. Co-Founder and Director Alex Berlee earned Amicus membership in 2017 and 2018. The honour sits with Alex individually and reflects the performance of the broader AGS team behind him.

AGS Financial Group's accounting division has been named in the Australian Financial Review's Top 100 Accounting Firms three years running. The annual list, produced by the AFR in partnership with Chartered Accountants ANZ, recognises firms that combine technical accounting excellence with specialised advisory services.

A key differentiator for firms in the top half of the list, including AGS, is the delivery of specialised advisory services alongside traditional accounting compliance work. This reflects AGS's integrated model, offering financial planning, SMSF advice, and mortgage broking under one roof.

AFR Smart Investor — Top 50 Financial Planner

Australian Financial Review Smart Investor Magazine

AGS Co-Founder and Director Alex Berlee was named in the AFR Smart Investor Magazine Masterclass for Financial Planning Top 50 six times. The Masterclass is a rigorous technical assessment examining financial structures, tax, superannuation (including SMSF), asset allocation, social security and investment strategies.

Alex also served on the judging panel for AMP's University Challenge twice, further contributing to the development of technical standards across the financial planning profession.
